DX Geothermal Heat Pump Specialist
Unlike fossil fuels [oil, natural/propane gas, coal, etc.], geothermal is an unlimited energy
source
. Geothermal energy has been around for billions of years, virtually unexplored and
untapped, until recently. Crude oil prices, which directly affects natural and propane gas prices
have risen sharply. Other environmental issues such as "green house gases" produced by
burning fossil fuels have become a major concern since it is depleting our ozone layer and aiding
"Global Warming". As a society, we should be concerned with these issues and look for other and
better alternatives. Geothermal energy is the perfect answer!

Geothermal heat pumps have been around for over fifty years. They have relied on “open or
closed water loops” to transfer energy to the heat pump system. These systems are very efficient,
but required the use of:

  • Several hundred/thousand feet of plastic piping to size the “closed loop” properly
[dependent upon unit size and soil conductivity]. The plastic pipe is susceptible to leakage
    and expensive to install.
  • Wells and ponds are used to supply water in an “open loop” system. Since the heat pumps
require several gallons of water flow per minute, a good water source is needed since the
water should not be returned to the same well.

Fortunately,
Earth Source Energy Solutions offers a geothermal heat pump system that
eliminates some of the previous “draw-backs”. While this company seems new, the product has
been around for a number of years. ESES was established in 2006 after purchasing the DX
product line of American Geothermal to further develop and market a mechanically simple and
highly efficient means of harvesting renewable energy from the earth for space heating, cooling,
and water heating. The resulting product is called the “Geo Direct™” system, a heat pump that
circulates refrigerant through a “Direct Exchange” loop. The loop is made of highly conductive
copper tubing which transfers heat energy from the earth directly to the refrigerant circuit to heat
the home or rejects heat energy from the refrigerant circuit to the earth for cooling. This
eliminates the secondary heat exchanger needed in a water-source system.

ESES system is mechanically simpler, has fewer moving parts, offers quieter operation and a
higher level of comfort. The system uses components that have proven reliable over years of
actual service in the field. Unlike most technological advances that require a degree to read the
instructions, the simplicity of this design allows for ease of installation, service and maintenance.

The higher installation cost of the Geo Direct™ system is quickly recuperated when you consider
the 30-70% energy savings. Coupled with a de-superheater, the pay-back period shortens
drastically. This system was tested with a standard air handler without the use of an Electronically
Commutated Motor [ECM] or any other performance enhancing features, yet achieved an Energy
Efficiency Ratio [EER] Rating of
16.6 and a Co-Efficiency of Performance [COP] Rating of 3.7!
Simply stated;
you get 16.6 Btuh of cooling per watt of power consumed and it is 370% more
efficient than electric strip heat!

Your waterless solution to efficiency and comfort!
This site has been developed to present information and show the benefit of using DX Geothermal Heat Pumps for
heating, air conditioning and water heating for homes and commercial applications. All information contained in this
site was obtained from various websites available to the public. Finding information that is accurate and easily
understood is sometimes difficult. This site will help you understand the terminology [EER,/COP/other technical
information] and other aspects of geothermal systems for heating and air conditioning purposes.
